Children are frequently outside in nice weather and often see dogs. Remember to teach them the rules so they will have fun and be safe. Dog Paws University offers FREE dog safety classes for children 5 years of age and older. Dogs are not invited to this class.  Call Dog Paws to register:

Remind kids of the basic outdoor rules:

•       Ask owners before you approach a dog

•       Never run away from a dog

•       Try to be calm around dogs

•       Do not try to pet a dog through a fence

•       Leave dogs alone when they are wrestling or playing together

Everyone has spring fever and is ready for a car ride…

As a general rule most dogs love to be with their families and taking them with you is a great way to socialize your puppies. Think of your dog as a young child and determine where he will be safe in your car.

We highly recommend that dogs do not ride in the front seat. They can quickly become a huge distraction and cause the driver to have an accident. Windows are another issue. A dog may enjoy having his head hanging out of the window and catching a breeze but would you allow a child to ride that way? Debris and wind can cause damage to the dog’s eyes and ears. Your dog may also fall out of the car.

RED FLAG WARNING

Cocoa Mulch is very harmful for dogs and may be fatal. It has a fine texture and sweet smell that will attract your curious pups. This mulch contains theobromine & caffeine just as in chocolate.

Supervise dog play:

This young pup will run until she drops so watch for those “tired” signs. Use common sense and playtime will always be safe and fun.

It’s Tick and Flea season so be sure to contact your vet and keep your pets and family safe.
